The Microsoft Dynamics NAV Help Builder Wizard helps you compile one or more Help files into .html files and into a .chm file. The Help Builder Wizard automates creating the Help files, and lets you save previous settings to make it even faster to generate a compiled Help project. Before you begin, make sure that the following files are available:
The HTML Help project files and HTML files that contain the Help.
The configuration file that contains any previous settings for Help Builder.
The object string file that contains captions for all objects, such as pages, tables, reports.
Files that contain graphics, images, and style sheets to be built into the Help project.
To compile Help using Help Builder
Start the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Help Builder Wizard. On the Welcome page, choose the Next button.
On the Specify HTML Help projects page, enter the .hhp files that specify which Help project that should be compiled, and then choose the Next button.
Note
Choose the Add File button for each Help project file that you want to add.
On the Specify a configuration file page, specify the settings to be applied to the Help project. Use default settings to complete all pages of the wizard. Select an existing configuration file to automatically apply all settings and skip to building the Help project. You can also select an existing configuration file, and select the option for changing some of the settings in the file.
On the Select language page, select the language that will be used in the Help project. Typically, this language setting should be the same as the language of the Help so that the headings and Help text match.
On the Specify the Object String File page, enter the location of the object string file that contains all the localized captions and objects, such as pages, tables, or reports. Choose the Next button. For more information, see Multilanguage File.
On the Specify additional files page, specify if you have additional files that contain images, stylesheets, or scripts to be included in the compiled Help project. Add the files by choosing the Add File button, and then choose the Next button.
On the Specify output folder name page, specify the folder name for the compiled Help project. Choose the Next button.
On the Confirm settings page, review the settings that you have specified and if they are okay, choose Run to compile the Help project. Use the Back button to modify settings.
Choose the Advanced button to add more detail to the Help build. For more information, see Advanced Settings.
The Help project is now compiled and the status is logged. The log is available after the Help is built.
On the Help was successfully compiled page, select the Open Output Folder link to open the location of the Help files directly. The .html files are found in the …\Processed\html folder. Select the check box to save the specified settings in the wizard for the next time that you run the wizard. Choose the Finish button to close the wizard.
