Global Dimension 2 Code Field, General Ledger Setup Table
Specifies the code for Global Dimension 2. You must select the Global Dimension 2 code from one of the dimension codes already set up by you in the Dimension table. You should determine which dimensions you are likely to analyze frequently and select one of these as one of the two global dimensions.
Note that when you enter a dimension code caption in the Code Caption field, the program will automatically rename all Global Dimension 2 fields with this caption.
You can set filters on G/L entries using dimension values for Global Dimension 2 and set up financial statements for this dimension by using the View, Field Filter; View, Table Filter; and View, Flowfilter features. You can also use these filters to investigate relationships between dimensions and their dimension values. For example, what kind of expenses does a department incur when selling to a particular customer group?
The dimension you enter here as Global Dimension 2 will automatically be available for use on journal lines, and in sales and purchase documents as Shortcut Dimension 2.
Important
Changing a global dimension code requires that the program make changes to entries already posted. This means that you should carefully consider which dimension code should be entered here to minimize the need for future changes.
Global dimensions can also be analyzed using the analysis view function.
