Set Up Speed Dialing for Voice Mail

Applies to: Office 365 for enterprises, Microsoft Exchange

If you set up your Windows Mobile phone without changing the voice mail number or you've set up a non-Windows Mobile phone for voice mail, you may want to create a contact on your mobile phone and then set up a speed dial key that can be used to dial voice mail.

How do I set up speed dialing?

On all mobile phones, it's easier to dial the Outlook Voice Access number by creating a contact on your mobile phone and then assigning a speed dial key to the contact. Then you'll only have to push one button on your keypad to call Outlook Voice Access.

The 1 speed dial key is reserved for your mobile provider's voice mail system. You'll need to choose a different speed dial key for Outlook Voice Access. But there are other keys you can use. The keys you can use depend on the mobile provider, the manufacturer of your mobile phone, or the software that's installed on your mobile phone.

If your mobile phone is running Windows Mobile, you can change the voice mail number on your phone, which lets you use the 1 speed dial key to dial your voice mail.

What else do I need to know?

  • If you can't change the voice mail number on your mobile phone so you can use the key reserved by the mobile phone manufacturer to dial Outlook Voice Access, you can dial the Outlook Voice Access phone number located on the Voice Mail tab.
  • You need to create a contact on your mobile phone before you can assign a speed dial key for dialing your voice mail. For details about how to create a voice mail contact, see Create a Contact for Voice Mail.
