Exercise 1: Deploy the pre-requisite list template and create the Parts list

In this exercise, you will deploy the pre-requisite list template and create the Parts list in the https://intranet.contoso.com site collection. The Parts list contains the data the Silverlight application will display.

Task 1 – Deploying the Pre-requisite List Template

In this task, you will deploy the pre-requisite Parts list template.

  1. Open Internet Explorer and navigate to https://intranet.contoso.com.
  2. Click Site Actions and select Site Settings.
  3. In the Galleries section, select List templates.
  4. In the Library Tools section of the Ribbon, select Documents.
  5. Click Upload Document.

  6. Click Browse…
  7. Locate the Parts_List.stp file in the <INSTALL>\Labs\UsingSampleDataWithExpressionBlend\Source\ folder, and select it.
  8. Click Open.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click Save.
  11. Click Site Actions and select More Options.
  12. In the Filter By: section, select List.
  13. Select Parts List.

  14. In the Name textbox, enter Parts.
  15. Click Create.
  16. Verify the Parts list exists and contains the following data.

Exercise 1 Verification

In order to verify that you have correctly performed all steps of exercise 1, proceed as follows:

Verification 1

In this verification, you will browse to the Parts list to validate it contains the sample data.

  1. Open Internet Explorer and navigate to https://intranet.contoso.com.
  2. Click Site Actions and select ViewAll Site Content.
  3. In the Lists section, click Parts.
  4. Verify the Parts list exists and contains the following data.
