w7 APPLICATION Configuration Service Provider
An APPLICATION Configuration Provider that has an APPID of w7 is used for bootstrapping a device with an OMA DM account.
Note Access to this Configuration Service Provider is determined by Security roles. Because OEMs and Mobile Operators can selectively disallow access, ask them about the availability of this Configuration Service Provider. For more information about roles, see Security Roles and Default Roles for Configuration Service Providers.
In the root characteristic, the default security roles are defined. The default security role maps to each subnode unless specific permission is granted to the subnode. The following table shows the default settings
Permissions | Read/Write |
Roles allowed to query and update setting | Manager

Characteristics
- APPAUTH
This characteristic is used in the w7 application to specify authentication information - APPADDR
This characteristic is used in w7 application to specify the DM server address - PORT
This characteristic is used in the APPADDR characteristic.
Parameters
APPID
Differentiates application protocols. This parameter is used in the APPLICATION characteristic. Use the value of w7 to bootstrap an OMA DM account. The following table shows the default settings.
Permissions Read/Write Data type String AAUTHDATA
This parameter is used in the APPAUTH characteristic. The value of this parameter is a base64-encoded form of a series of bytes.AAUTHLEVEL
Indicates whether the credentials client authenticates itself at the DM server or client level. This parameter is used in the APPAUTH characteristic. The following list shows the possible values:- APPSRV indicates the group credentials the client uses to authenticate itself to the OMA DM Server at the DM protocol level.
- CLIENT indicates the group credentials that the server uses to authenticate itself to the OMA DM Client at the DM protocol level
AAUTHNAME
The following table shows the default settings.Permissions Read/Write Data type String AAUTHSECRET
The following table shows the default settings.Permissions Read/Write Data type String AAUTHTYPE
Indicates the method of authentication. The following list shows the possible values:
- BASIC
- DIGEST. When AAUTHLEVEL is CLIENT, then AAUTHTYPE must be DIGEST.
The following table shows the default settings.
Permissions Read/Write Data type String ADDR
This parameter is used in the w7 APPLICATION Configuration Service Provider. The following table shows the default settings.
Permissions Read/Write Data type String ADDRTYPE
This parameter is used in the w7 APPLICATION Configuration Service Provider. The following table shows the default settings.
Permissions Read/Write Data type String In OMA DM XML, if there are multiple instances of this parameter, the first valid parameter value is used.
INIT
When present, this parameter indicates that the management server wants the client to initiate a management session immediately after settings approval. If this w7 application document will be put in ROM, the INIT parameter must not be present.Note This parameter forces the device to attempt to connect with the OMA DM sever. The connection attempt fails if the XML is set during the coldinit phase. One main cause of this failure is that the radio is not yet ready immediately after coldinit is finished.
The following table shows the default settings.
Permissions Read/Write Data type String PORTNBR
This parameter is used in the w7 APPLICATION/PORT characteristic. The following table shows the default settings.
Permissions Read/Write Data type String PROVIDER-ID
This parameter is used in the w7 APPLICATION Configuration Service Provider to differentiate OMA DM servers. It is in the APPLICATION characteristic..The following table shows the default settings.
Permissions Read/Write Data type String ROLE
This parameter is used in the w7 APPLICATION Configuration Service Provider, in the APPLICATION characteristic. This is a Microsoft custom setting. This parameter specifies the role mask that the DM session should run with if communicating with this server. If this parameter is not present, the DM session should be given the role mask that the w7 application document was running with.
The following table shows the default settings.
Permissions Read/Write Data type String TO-NAPID
This parameter specifies the specific GPRS connection the client will use to connect to this OMA DM server. If multiple TO-NAPID parameters are specified, only the first TO-NAPID will be stored. The following table shows the default settings.
