What's New in the Office SharePoint Server 2007 SDK
The April 2009 update of the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 software development kit (SDK 1.5 release) contains documentation for new and improved features in the Infrastructure Update for Microsoft Office Servers. In addition, it contains significant new conceptual, procedural, and reference information to help you create customizations and applications for Office SharePoint Server 2007.
Note
The SharePoint Server 2007 SDK is also available as a download in the Microsoft Download Center. To download the SDK, see SharePoint Server 2007: Software Development Kit.
SharePoint Server 2007 SDK 1.5 Release
The following is a detailed breakdown of changes to the Office SharePoint Server 2007 SDK 1.5 and its contents.
New Version of Application Definition Editor
In the last release, if a return parameter had more than 300 fields, the Microsoft Business Data Catalog Definition Editor would automatically truncate all fields except the first 300 fields, and there was no way to get to the truncated fields. The revised Microsoft Business Data Catalog Definition Editor addresses this issue by displaying all available fields in the return parameters and letting you choose up to 300 fields from the list of fields.
You should note that the editor allows you to delete only one field at a time. If you have several fields to delete, it will be less time-consuming to save the application definition with the extra fields (more than 300 fields), and then remove the fields in return parameters by using a text editor such as Notepad.

SharePoint Server 2007 SDK 1.2 Download
Starting with the SharePoint Server 2007 1.2 SDK download (SharePoint Server 2007: Software Development Kit), the following areas are new or improved.
Start Menu Navigation
With the Office SharePoint Server 2007 SDK 1.2 download release, we offer a new Start menu shortcut that gives you quick access to documentation (compiled HTML Help, or CHM for short) files, and the Welcome Page (ReadMe.htm) that is a landing page with links to all the tools and samples.
Installation Improvements
With the Office SharePoint Server 2007 SDK 1.2 download release, we offer you the ability to specify an installation location when you are installing the SDK. Just browse to your preferred folder during setup. The default installation path for the Office SharePoint Server 2007 SDK is <%Program Files%>\2007 Office System Developer Resources\
.
Offline Experience Improvements
Starting with the Office SharePoint Server 2007 SDK 1.2 download, the release includes technical articles, visual how-to articles, and book excerpts and the Excel Services and Excel 2007 Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 Job Submission developer guideāpackaged into one searchable CHM file. Now you can browse offline for content that has been published on MSDN out-of-band with the SDK.
Note
Several links in the MOSSSDK_TechArticles.chm and the WSSSDK_TechArticles.chm do not work in a strictly offline scenario. In addition, we did not package the WMV file screen casts or the associated downloads that go with articles, to keep the SDK download size manageable. The workaround for both issues is to browse the content online; for ease-of-use, the table of content in the CHM file is the same as the table of content on MSDN.
