Configuring properties for Groove Server Manager

Applies to: Groove Server 2010

Topic Last Modified: 2010-02-11

This article describes how to use Groove Server Manager to edit the administrative contact e-mail address and how to change the Manager’s Master Password if you believe it may have been compromised. The Groove Server Manager Master Password is used to encrypt sensitive stored information.

This procedure requires that Groove Server Manager is installed as described in Install and configure Groove Server 2010 Manager.

To view or change Groove Server Manager properties

  1. Log on to the Groove Server Manager administrative Web site and select the server in the left navigation pane.

  2. Click Server Properties in the toolbar. A Groove Server Manager Properties window appears.

  3. To change the administrative contact e-mail address, edit the E-mail field. The default is the managing administrator's e-mail address, supplied during installation.

  4. If necessary, to change the Groove Server Manager Master Password that you originally supplied during installation, click Change Master Password and enter the old and a new password in the appropriate fields. This Master Password is used to encrypt sensitive information that is stored on the Manager’s SQL Server.

    Note

Do not lose this password, because it cannot be restored easily. If you lose your password, contact Microsoft Support. You can change the password on the server Properties page after the Groove Server Manager is installed.

  5. Click OK.
