Product Overview and Roadmap

Applies To: System Center Data Protection Manager 2007

System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2007 is a server software application that enables disk-based and tape-based data protection and recovery for computers in and across Active Directory domains. DPM performs replication, synchronization, and recovery point creation to provide reliable protection and rapid recovery of data both by system administrators and by end-users.

For an in depth overview of DPM 2007, including protection of virtual servers, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange Server, Windows SharePoint Services (WSS), and Windows file services, view the System Center Data Protection Manager 2007 Overview Webcast (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=120842).

DPM is designed to run on servers running Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 2 (SP2), Windows Server 2003 R2 with SP2, Windows Storage Server 2003 with SP2, and Windows Server 2008.

Important

Before you deploy DPM 2007 on Windows Server 2008 you must install Knowledge Base article 950082 (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=116285).
