System View Window Terminology

You can open the System View window in System Designer and Deployment Designer. In System Designer, the System View window displays applications and systems that are defined on the application diagram and system diagrams in your solution. You can design an application system by dragging these applications and systems to the system diagram that contains the definition of that system. You can perform this task by dragging them from the System View window to the system diagram.

Note

To add new applications and systems to a system definition, drag them from the Toolbox. For more information, see How to: Add Members to Application Systems.

In Deployment Designer, the System View window displays applications that are members of a particular system. You can define deployment for that system by dragging these applications from the System View window and binding them to logical servers on the deployment diagram.

Root application system

Refers to the top-level application system for which you are defining and evaluating deployment. The System View window displays all applications in the system, including the full expansion of all systems in the root system.

For more information, see the following topics:

Bound application

Refers to an application in the system that has been bound to a specific logical server on the deployment diagram.

Unbound application

Refers to an application in the system that is not yet bound to a logical server on the deployment diagram.
