Component filters determine which components are displayed in the component browser in Windows XP Embedded Target Designer. A component filter is made up of one or more rules that specify which components should be displayed when the filter is applied to the component browser.
The following list shows the rules that can be used in a filter:
- Component display name contains [substring]
- Component description contains [substring]
- Component vendor name contains [substring]
- Component version string contains [substring]
- Component is configurable by the user
- Component can be included in the same configuration multiple times
- Component contains the following file: [filelist]
- Component belongs to the following package: [package]
- Component belongs to the following category: [category]
When you use a rule that contains bracketed text, you specify the substring, filelist, package, or category to insert in the rule.
Rules can be combined with AND and OR to create a filter that further narrows the list of components. For example, you can use the following rule to create a filter that displays only components with Internet in the display name AND either components with Microsoft in the vendor name OR components that are configurable by the user:
Component display name contains [Internet]
AND (Component vendor name contains [Microsoft]
OR Component is configurable by the user)
