Checklist: Installation for Message Queuing clients
Use this checklist when installing Message Queuing clients on Windows Server 2003 family computers that do not have previous versions of Message Queuing installed. Message Queuing is not installed by default during Windows Server 2003 family operating system setup.

Log on with local administrative permissions (as a member of the local Administrators group). For best security practice, log off as administrator after installation is complete. |

For a dependent client, verify that a Message Queuing computer with at least independent client functionality is available, preferably in the same site in which you are installing. Any such computer operating in domain mode can serve as a supporting server. Following installation, Message Queuing computers are not configured to support dependent clients, and this feature must be enabled. Note that a computer in workgroup mode cannot act as a supporting server for a dependent client. |

Run the Windows Components Wizard and select the subcomponents that provide the applicable client functionality. |

Verify that the Message Queuing service has started. |

Send a test message. Note that this feature must be enabled following Message Queuing installation. |
Notes
New Message Queuing 3.0 features, such as HTTP transport, Message Queuing Triggers, and sending messages to multiple destinations, are not available to dependent clients. Thus, distribution lists, multiple-element format names, and multicast messaging are not supported for dependent clients.
Dependent clients will no longer be supported in future versions of Message Queuing.
