Import a bank statement

Completed

To enable the importing of bank statements as bank feeds, you must select the bank statement import format. Using this format depends on the region where you use Business Central. For example, SEPA CAMT is a format that is used in most European countries/regions, while the Envestnet Yodlee Bank Feeds is often used in the United States.

To select the bank statement import format, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Search for Page icon in the top-right corner of the page, enter Bank Accounts, and then select the related link.

  2. Open the bank account that you will use for the bank feed service.

  3. On the Bank Account Card page, in the Bank Statement Import Format field, select the format that you want to use.

  1. Select the Search for Page icon in the top-right corner of the page, enter Bank Account Reconciliation, and then select the related link.

  2. Select the New action.

  3. Select the relevant bank account. The bank account ledger entries that exist on the bank account appear on the Bank Account Ledger Entries pane.

  4. In the Statement Date field, enter the date of the statement from the bank.

  5. In the Statement Ending Balance field, enter the balance of the statement from the bank.

  6. If you have a bank statement file, select Bank > Import Bank Statement.

  7. Select Choose.. to locate the file and then select the Open button to import the bank transactions into the Bank Statement Lines section of the Bank Acc. Reconciliation page.

Business Central offers automatic matching functionality that applies payments to their related open entries based on a matching of text on a bank statement line (left pane) with text on one or more bank account ledger entries (right pane). You can overwrite the suggested automatic applications, and you can decide not to use automatic application at all. For more information, see the next procedure.

  1. On the Bank Acc. Reconciliation page, select Matching > Match Automatically. The Match Bank Entries page opens.

  2. In the Transaction Date Tolerance (Days) field, specify the number of days before and after the bank account ledger entry posting date within which the function will search for matching transaction dates in the bank statement.

  3. If you enter 0 or leave the field blank, then the Match Automatically function will only search for matching transaction dates on the bank account ledger entry posting date.

  4. Select the OK button. All bank statement lines and bank account ledger entries that can be matched change to green font, and the Applied option is selected.

  5. To remove a match, select the bank statement line and then select Matching > Remove Match.
