Encourage learners with celebrations and praise

Completed

Building a safe learning environment is important when we want learners to collaborate and participate in authentic learning communities. Encouraging learners with celebrations and praise is one way to build trust.

Everyone enjoys receiving praise for a job well done. As educators, we know that every learner is different and, as such, might prefer to receive recognition in different ways. Class teams include a quick and easy way to deliver virtual praise privately in a chat or publicly in a channel.

When learners are working on a long-term project that has been challenging, there might be a group that’s working extra hard or doing a great job of collaborating. Let them know you noticed their efforts by sending them praise via the Posts tab or a private message. Or, consider a weekly Friday praise message that spotlights specific learners who did something noteworthy during the week like:

  • Displayed a growth mindset
  • Were kind to their classmates
  • Helped others in a meaningful way
