Allocation terms

Allocated transactions redistribute account balances from one account to one or more destination accounts or account-dimension combinations. The allocation feature is valuable when you need to distribute centrally administrated expenses to individual cost centers, for example.

You use allocation for realized and budget transactions. During allocation to the given accounts, the system totals the net amount. After allocation, the system posts any remainder that's relative to the journal line to the original account with the original dimensions.
