Use statistical accounts in financial reports

Completed

With statistical accounts, you can add a number-based statistical value to a separate ledger. For example, you might want to add the following information to clarify values on reports:

  • Square meters in your building for tracking rental expenses.

  • Number of full-time employees.

  • Customers served for a given marketing spend.

You can improve analyses and progress tracking by using statistical account in financial reports.

To create a statistical account, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Search for page icon in the upper-right corner of the page, enter Statistical Accounts, and then select the related link.

  2. Select New.

  3. Enter a number and a name.

Create statistical account ledger entries

By registering statistical account journal lines, Business Central creates statistical account ledger entries.

You can use the statistical account journal as follows:

  1. Select the Search for page icon in the upper-right corner of the page, enter Statistical Account Journal, and then select the related link.

  2. Enter a posting date and document number.

  3. In the Statistical Account No. field, select an account.

  4. Enter a description.

  5. In the Amount field, enter an amount.

  6. To register the line, choose Register > Yes.

Unlike general journals, the statistical account journal lines don't have to balance. The values in the Amount field are added to the statistical account's total balance.
