Exercise - Create a percentage-based formula

Company USP2 has been contracted to make a new orange juice with the following volume percentages for the final mixture. It's formula is to be copied from the current formula for P9500 and then updated as shown below. The mixture should have Vitamin C and Vitamin A updated according to the following mixing instructions, and Vitamin E should be eliminated.

The volume batch size is to be 1500 gallons.

Create a new released product

  1. In the USP2 company, go to Product information management > Products > Released products.
  2. Select New.
  3. In the Product number field, enter P6100.
  4. In the Product name field, enter Orange Juice.
  5. In the Search name field, enter Orange Juice.
  6. In the Item model group field, enter or select a value.
  7. In the Item group field, enter or select a value.
  8. In the Storage dimension group field, enter or select a value.
  9. In the Tracking dimension group field, enter or select a value.
  10. In the Inventory unit field, enter gal.
  11. In the Purchase unit field, enter gal.
  12. In the Sales unit field, enter gal.
  13. In the BOM unit field, enter gal.
  14. Select OK.
  15. In the Production type field, select Formula.
  16. Select Save.

Copy the existing formula for P9500

  1. Go to Product information management > Products > Released products.
  2. Use the Quick Filter to filter on the Item number field with a value of P9500.
  3. In the list, select the link in the selected row.
  4. Select Formula versions.
  5. Select New.
  6. Select Formula and formula version.
  7. In the Formula number field, type a value.
  8. In the Name field, type a value.
  9. Select the Copy option.
  10. In the Site field, enter or select 1.
  11. Select OK.
  12. In the Formula version field, select the current version.
  13. Select OK.

Verify that the lines are flagged as scalable for P9500, except for the vitamin compounds

  1. In the lines, find the vitamin compounds.
  2. Select or clear the Scalable check boxes.
  3. Select Save.

Update the Formula size and From formula size in the new formula

  1. In the Lines or Header field, select Header.
  2. Set Formula size to 1500.
  3. Set From formula size to 1500.
  4. Select Save.

Update the formula with the revised mixing instructions

  1. Find the line for Vitamin E (M8005) and delete it.
  2. Set the quantity for M8003 to 1.33 and formula size to 1,500
  3. Set the quantity for M8004 to 1.1 and the formula size to 1,500

Approve and activate the formula

  1. In the Lines or Header field, select Lines.
  2. Select Save.
  3. Select Approve formula.
  4. In the Approved by field, enter or select a value.
  5. Select OK.
  6. In the Lines or Header field, select Header.
  7. Select Approve in the Versions grid.
  8. In the Approved by field, enter or select a value.
  9. Select OK.
  10. Select Activate.
  11. Close all pages.
