A key capability of Customer Insights - Data is the ability to use Customer Insights data in other applications. Microsoft Dynamics 365 applications, such as Dynamics 365 Sales and Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys, are prime examples where applying Customer Insights data can provide an enhanced experience and allow you to better reach out and target customers.

Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys

Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys helps organizations elevate customer experiences by allowing you to orchestrate personalized journeys across all touchpoints to strengthen relationships and earn loyalty.

In addition to its event management capabilities, Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys consists of two primary modules:

  • Real-time marketing - Allows you to trigger customer journeys in real time based on the signals and rich profile data that you collect from your customers. Additionally, you can pick the correct channel for each individual and connect in the moments that matter.

  • Outbound marketing - Provides email marketingcustomer journeyslead scoringmarketing pages, and social posting, which allow you to seamlessly connect your marketing and sales processes.

Outbound marketing

While you can create customer segments in Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys, the criteria and data that is used to build those segments are limited to the data that is stored in Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys. With Customer Insights - Data, you can use unified customer profiles that include data from Dynamics 365 Marketing data and other applications. By using Customer Insights - Data enrichment capabilities, such as including data from vendors, you can build a deeper understanding of who your customers are so that you can create more targeted segments than if you were planning to use Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys only.

The integrated solution between Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys and Customer Insights - Data lets you:

  • Include Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys data in the unified customer profile - Load data from Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys into Customer Insights - Data so that it can combine customer information with data from other sources.

  • Enrich data - Use tools like Microsoft Graph and data from other services, such as Experian, so that you can build a complete understanding of the customer and build more targeted customer segments.

  • Use Customer Insights data in Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys - Import segments that are created in Customer Insights - Data into Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys and then insert them into customer journeys.

To use Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Data segments with Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys, complete the following steps:

  1. Bring your marketing contacts into Customer Insights - Data. By setting up Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys as a data source, you can include marketing contacts in your unified customer profile. For more information, see Bring your marketing contacts into Customer Insights - Data.

  2. Define your Customer Insights - Journeys app as an export. For Customer Insights - Data segments to be available in Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys, set up your Customer Insights - Journeys instance as an export destination. You only need to complete this step once. Learn how to define your Customer Insights - Journeys app as an export destination.

  3. Build your segments in Customer Insights - Data. You can build segments in Customer Insights - Data to use items like enrichment data, intelligence, and other items. Learn how to build customer segments.

Real-time marketing

Historically, Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys was an application for marketers. Now, with AI and natural language input assistance, business users can build event-based journeys that reach customers across multiple touchpoints and grow relationships from prospects through sales and support.

With real-time marketing, you can personalize your customer engagement by using transactional, behavioral, and demographic data from Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Data. With Customer Insights data, you can:

  • Target unified Customer Insights - Data customer profiles and segments, which help you engage every customer, regardless of whether the customer's data is in Customer Insights - Journeys or Customer Insights - Data.

  • Base dynamic content (such as personalized tokens) in emails, text messages, and push notifications on measures such as loyalty status, subscription renewal date, parent account, or any other measure that you capture in the unified customer profile.

For example, consider a scenario where you have an e-commerce website. Your practice is to capture information about the visitors and shoppers on the website as customer profiles in Customer Insights - Data. Now, you decide to also target visitors who abandon their carts while shopping.

To ensure that you can use Customer Insights data in Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys, confirm that you enabled data sharing between the Customer Insights - Data environment and the Microsoft Dataverse instance that supports Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys. Typically, this task can be done when you build your environment, but you can add it later if needed. For more information, see Connect to Microsoft Dataverse.

After you enable data sharing, complete the Map, Match, Merge process, and create at least one segment, you can start using the data in Marketing. You can set up the connection in Dynamics 365 Marketing by selecting Settings > Data Management > Customer Insights connector.

Dynamics 365 Sales

Dynamics 365 Sales enables salespeople to build strong relationships with their customers, take actions based on insights, and close deals faster. You can use Dynamics 365 Sales to keep track of your accounts and contacts, nurture your sales from lead to order, and create sales collateral. Moreover, you can create marketing lists and campaigns, and you can follow service cases that are associated with specific accounts or opportunities.

Organizations that use Customer Insights - Data can use customer data to create marketing lists and follow-up workflows and to send promotions in Dynamics 365 Sales.

Similar to other exporting capabilities, if you want to use Customer Insights data in Dynamics 365 Sales, you need to complete two steps:

  • Set up the connection to Sales - Under Admin > Connections, add a connection and then select Dynamics 365 Sales. After you specify the server address and authenticate, the connection is available in the future for exports. Learn how to set up a connection to Dynamics 365 Sales.

  • Set up the export - Under Data > Exports, add a new export destination that points to the Dynamics 365 Sales connection that you created earlier. In the export, select the segments to be included in the export. Learn how to set up an export to Dynamics 365 Sales.

Now that you learned how to use customer profile and segment data from Customer Insights - Data with Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys and Dynamics 365 Sales, you can learn how to display Customer Insights data in Dynamics 365 records.
