Exercise - Create and process a nonconformance order

Due to recent issues with customers returning faulty computers, you want to set up some processes to deal with faulty items in the system.

  1. Open Inventory management > Setup > Quality management > Problem types.
  2. Select New.
  3. Enter Temperature in both Problem type and Description fields.
  4. Select Save.
  5. Open Inventory management > Setup > Quality management > Diagnostic types.
  6. Select New.
  7. Enter Machine temperature in both Diagnostic and Description fields.
  8. Select Save.
  9. Open Inventory management > Setup > Quality management > Operations.
  10. Select New.
  11. Enter Adjustment temp in both Operation and Description fields.
  12. Select Purchase order in the Type field.
  13. Select Save.
  14. Open Inventory management > Setup > Quality management > Quality charges.
  15. Select New.
  16. Enter Repair in both Problem type and Description fields.
  17. Select Save.
  18. Open Inventory management > Setup > Quality management > Quarantine zones.
  19. Select New.
  20. Enter Repair in both Quarantine zone and Description fields.
  21. Select Save.

You have discovered a faulty computer in inventory and will need to raise a nonconformance order to have it fixed. The item that you found will need to be taken out of stock and repaired. A machine has caused this fault and will need to be adjusted to prevent more items from being faulty.

  1. Open Inventory management > Periodic tasks > Quality management > Non Conformances.
  2. Select New.
  3. Select Internal in the Non conformance type field.
  4. Enter 1000 in the Item number field.
  5. Enter Enclosure in the Problem type field.
  6. Enter 5.00 in the Defective quantity field.
  7. Enter 1 in the Site field.
  8. Enter 13 in the Warehouse field.
  9. Select OK.
  10. Select Functions and then select Approve non conformance.
  11. Select Yes.
  12. Select the Related operations button.
  13. Select New.
  14. Select Enclosure in the Operation field.
  15. Enter Damaged in the Reason field.
  16. Select the Items button.
  17. Select New.
  18. Select A0001 as the item number.
  19. Enter 1.00 in the Quantity field.
  20. Select Save and close the page.
  21. Select the Quality Charges button.
  22. Select New.
  23. Select Rework in the Charges code field.
  24. Enter Rework in the Description field.
  25. Enter 100.00 in the Charges value field.
  26. Select Save and then exit the page.
  27. Select the Timesheet button.
  28. Select New.
  29. Enter 5.0 in the Operation hours field.
  30. Select Save and then exit the page.
  31. Close the Related operations page.
  32. Select the Corrections button.
  33. Select New.
  34. Select Machine adjustments in the Diagnostic field.
  35. Select 000002 (Charlie Carsson) in the Worker field.
  36. Select High in the Correction priority field.
  37. Select the Save button.
  38. Select the Mark Complete button.
  39. Select OK and then close the page.
  40. Select the Functions button and then select Close non conformance.
  41. Select Yes.
