Create a new company by copying data from an existing company

Completed

When you are setting up a company in a database that already has one or more companies that have data you want to use in your new company, you can use the Copy Data from Company function to copy data between companies in the same database.

Copy data from a company

With the Copy Data from Company function, you can copy data between companies in the same database. The Copy Data from Company function is available in the configuration worksheet. You can only copy data to a table with no records.

For example, the following steps can be used to copy the chart of accounts from CRONUS (the sample company) to a new company.

  1. Select the Search for page icon in the top-right corner of the page, enter configuration worksheet, and select the related link.

  2. In the configuration worksheet, enter a line for each table you want to copy data from:

    a. In the Line Type field, select Table.

    b. Select the Table ID field and select table 15.

  3. On the configuration worksheet, click Prepare and then Copy Data from Company.

  4. In the Copy from field, select the company you want to copy from. For this example, select CRONUS.

  5. The Copy Company Data page displays the tables you inserted in the configuration worksheet. If a table isn't displayed, it means that the table already contains records.

  6. Select the lines you want to copy the data from.

  7. Select the Copy Data action.

  8. Select Yes.

The data is now copied to the new company.
