The report design process is divided into two distinct phases that reflect the different aspects of creating a report:

Designing the visual element

An important part of creating a report is designing the dataset, which consists of data items and columns. The report dataset determines which tables and fields become available in the report layout. Designing a good dataset is the basis of creating a report.
