Staying organized can be as challenging for some students as the work itself. Creating systems that set up students for success from the start can help create good habits. Suggestions include:

  • Create classroom norms around checking the Teams calendar everyday
  • Use consistent formatting and language when creating assignments
  • Create To-Do lists as a class and take time to put things in the lists
  • Help students come up with systems to remember to check for work, such as Teams notifications
  • Frequent check-ins with students in 1:1 meetings in Teams and offering office hours
  • Encourage students to use Office Lens to digitize materials to quickly access and save in the correct location

Executive function and neurodiversity

Students with executive function deficits and neurological differences have unique needs that can be addressed in both synchronous and asynchronous settings. No matter the learning environment, students need structure to be able to engage in new learning. This structure can include:

  • Planning and staying organized with Outlook and To Do
  • Remove distractions with Immersive Reader in Edge
  • Focus Mode
