Describe pricing and discounts
Commerce has detailed functionality for product pricing and discounts. Price group is the most important feature of price and discount management in Commerce. Price groups can be assigned to various commerce entities, like channels, catalogs, affiliations, and loyalty programs. Price and discount are also defined for a price group. This helps to link the commerce entities with their respective price and discount.
The following illustration depicts how price groups link the various commerce entities with price and discount.
Commerce manages product prices in three places:
Directly on product
Sales agreement
Price discount
The base price and sales agreement price are part of the core Supply Chain Management features and can be used for orders created through Commerce. The price adjustment functionality isn't a Supply Chain Management feature and is only supported for Commerce-created sales orders.
Commerce supports various types of discounts, as follows:
Simple: A single percentage or fixed amount
Quantity: A discount that is applied when two or more products are purchased
Mix and match: A discount that is applied when a specific combination of products is purchased
Threshold: A discount that is applied when the transaction total is more than a specified amount
Tender-based: A discount that is applied to a specific payment type
Shipping: A discount that is applied to a specific mode of delivery
