This module introduces research studies that demonstrate how education environments of the future will function and the skills learners of the future will need to be successful. The educator’s role is transforming from knowledge-purveyor into a facilitator or coach; they work alongside students, guiding them to follow their passions, inquiries, and to use critical thinking to solve problems. At the same time, social emotional skills are quickly taking center stage alongside cognitive skills and technical skills in both the classroom and the workforce, and are an integral part of learning of the future. To make learning more student-centric, strategies and tools must help identify where students are in their learning, what motivates them, and provide the flexibility for students to move through content at their own pace. Actions you can take, provided in each unit, help you learn how you can work within your role, and support those in other roles, to create student-centered learning.
