Evaluate business impact of a change request and send notifications

Completed

Consider a scenario where your quality assurance department has found a change that needs to be made to one of your products. If this product is in active circulation, you might want to know if active transactions involving that product exist. If so, you'd likely want to contact the customer or relevant parties and advise that a change is needed in their product and then have that product recalled.

To review affected transactions, block selected transactions, and send related notifications, you can go to an engineering change request or create a new one. Then, if you go to the Change Request tab on the Action Pane, the Business impact group should show. You might do a search, which will scan all open transactions from which you can open the Business impact to open transactions dialog. This selection will list all transactions that would be affected by the engineering change. Additionally, you can view a previous search, which would list the results of the previous search in the Business impact to open transactions dialog.

The Business impact to open transactions dialog contains a set of tabs, each showing a list of transactions of a certain type (Sales orders, Purchase orders, Production orders, inventory, and more.). Within each tab, you can view the number of affected transactions of that type and then choose to view a transaction, block a transaction, or notify the related parties.
