This module presents an overview of organization and product hierarchies and how they are used in Dynamics 365 Commerce.
Organization hierarchy
An organizational hierarchy is a graphical representation of an organization. It is comprised of a series of legal entities and operating units. The different organizations are then branched together in a child/parent configuration to recreate the business interactions and dependencies.
Category and product hierarchies
Category hierarchies are used to manage products by logical grouping of products for various business purposes.
For example, a single hierarchy structure might be used to view and maintain products across the entire company. Alternatively, you might have a second requirement to view items that are structured in a hierarchy by manufacturer or view how the items are seen on an e-commerce site.
