Exercise - Practice operating a guide in a HoloLens

To perform this exercise, you must have a HoloLens device that has Dynamics 365 Guides installed on it. You install Dynamics 365 Guides from the Microsoft store.

Scenario

In this exercise, you will explore Dynamics 365 Guides by using the demo guide that is available out of the box. You will explore the user interface and try out the different features of the app.

Detailed steps

  1. Turn on your HoloLens and open Dynamics 365 Guides from the Start menu.
  2. In the Sign-in screen, make sure you are facing an empty space and then, gaze at the circular button (Try the demo), on the left side of the bottom section. You will now see the instruction card, as well as a hologram of an air compressor.
  3. If the air compressor is in an empty space, you can go ahead and confirm its position by gazing at the circular area located the left of the Confirm button. The demo will now start. If you want to recalibrate the position of the air compressor, leave the demo using the Home button at the top left of the step card. In the Sign-in screen, face an empty space before re-entering the demo.
  4. The demo includes 13 steps, split across three tasks. It will describe the main concepts of Dynamics 365 Guides and provide you with an idea of what operators will experience when they create their own guides.
  5. You can now go through the demo by gazing at the rectangular Next button at the top-right corner of the step card.
  6. When you are done, you can either restart the demo from the completion step, or leave it by gazing at the Home button on the top-left corner of the instruction card. This will bring you back to the Sign-in screen.
