If you are signed in to finance and operations in the lab environment, you don’t need to sign in again, and can begin your work on this lab.

If you are not signed in to the lab environment yet, then go to the first lab unit in this module for instructions. Then, after you successfully sign in, use the Next button in the Instructions tab of the lab side bar to return to this lab scenario, and begin your work.

Scenario

You need to create a new record for new laptops that should be added to your fixed assets in the USMF sample company.

In this lab, you will

  • Create a record template.
  • Use a record template to create a new record.

Create a record template

  1. Go to Fixed assets > Fixed assets > Fixed assets.
  2. Select New.
  3. In the Fixed asset group field, select a value, such as 'COMP'.
  4. In the Name field, enter 'Corporate lead laptop'.
  5. In the Search name field, enter 'laptop.'
  6. Expand the Technical information section.
  7. In the Make field, type a value, such as 'Microsoft'.
  8. In the Model field, type a value, such as 'ThinkPad'.
  9. In the Model year field, type '2019'.
  10. On the Action Pane, select Options.
  11. Select Record info.
  12. Select the User template button.
  13. In the Name field, enter 'Corporate laptop.'
  14. In the Description field, enter 'Corporate laptop'.
  15. Select OK.
  16. Select Close.

Use a record template to create a new record

  1. Go to Fixed assets > Fixed assets > Fixed assets.
  2. Select New.
  3. You will be prompted to select a template. Select the one that corresponds to your business need.
  4. In the list, find and select a record.
  5. Select OK.
  6. Close the pages.

Close the lab environment

  1. Select Done in the Instructions pane in the lab side bar.
  2. In the Lab is complete window, select Continue, and then select Leave to return to the next unit in the module.
