Use the line type on a job journal

For each job planning line that you set up, make sure that you enter one of the following options in the Line Type field:

  • Budget

  • Billable

  • Both Budget and Billable

You can find the same Line Type field, with the same options, on the following pages:

  • Purchase lines

  • Job journal lines

  • Job G/L journal lines

Consequently, if you enter the Line Type field on these pages, Business Central can create new planning lines when you post consumption to a job.

However, the behavior of posting with a line type depends on the Apply Usage Link function that you can enable for a job.
