Create job journal lines from planning lines

With job planning lines, you can budget the expected consumption of resource time, materials, and G/L expenses, which means that the job planning lines contain the information that you need to post the consumption of resource time or material consumption to a job.

With the Qty. to Transfer to Journal field, you can enter the quantity that you want to transfer to the job journal.

The preceding screenshot shows a job planning line for 10 hours of resource MARY. The user has entered 4 in the Qty. to Transfer to Journal field, which means that if you select Process and then select Create Job Journal Lines, Business Central creates a job journal line for resource MARY with a quantity 4.

To create job journal lines from planning lines, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Search for page icon in the upper-right corner of the page, enter jobs, and then select the related link.

  2. Select the job for which you want to create job journal lines.

  3. Select Navigate > Job Task Lines.

  4. Select the job task line that has the job planning lines for which you want to create the job journal lines.

  5. Select Process > Job Planning Lines.

  6. On the job planning line, enter the Qty. to Transfer to Journal field, based on what you want to post as consumption to the job.

  7. Select Process > Create Job Journal Lines.

  8. On the Job Transfer Job Planning Line page, enter the posting date and then select the job journal template and batch that you want to use. Select OK.

  9. To access the job journal, select Process > Open Job Journal.

You can now check the line and post the consumption to the job.
