Design review presentations

Design reviews happen periodically on a project. A design review is when a project team member shares with the customer the planned design of the system. This review is intended to be an interactive conversation, where you’re looking for the customer buy-in on the designs that you’ve brought.

When possible, make sure that you present a small enough piece of the design so that the reviewer doesn’t become lost in the details of the whole system. For example, if you’re going through a data model and trying to validate how data is stored and its relationships, you can include only a small subset of tables that are used for a customer business process. Then, you can go through some example data for the business process on those tables.

For user experience design reviews, it’s also beneficial to keep focused on a business process or a specific user role. If you try to review every user experience in the solution, it might be overwhelming, and difficult to keep the feedback focused. Using a prototype Dynamics 365 form or a mocked-up UI design can be an effective way to demonstrate a set of forms for a business process. Typically, these methods would be combined in a storyboard to explain how the user would progress through the process. In addition to creating a prototype of the form, many UI design mockup tools are available for you to use to draw what the form or app user experience would look like. Often, these tools can help you build the storyboard or click-through demo that you can use to present the design ideas.

Remember to keep your audience in mind because different audiences will be interested in varying degrees of technical details.
