Exercise - Set up a put-away template for the north warehouse
Warehouse Management exercises use a sandbox demo company that you need to set up to complete these exercises. The steps to set up the needed sandbox environment and demo company are documented in the Get started with warehouse management in Dynamics 365 Business Central module of this learning path.
Scenario
Most items in the NORTH warehouse have fixed bins, which is why you want Business Central to first look for fixed bins when you are putting away items in the warehouse.
To achieve this task, you want to set up a put-away template that you will call DEFAULT, based on the following requirements:
Search for:
- Fixed bin
- With same item
- In same unit of measure
Search for:
- Fixed bin
- With same item
Search for:
- Fixed bin
- Empty
Search for:
- Floating bin
- With same item
Search for:
- Floating bin
- Empty
Search for:
- Floating bin
After setting up the template, you want to assign it to the NORTH location.
Steps
Select the Search for page icon in the upper-right corner of the page, enter put-away templates, and then select the related link.
Select New.
In the Code field, enter DEFAULT.
In the Description field, enter Default template.
On the first line, select the following options:
- Find Fixed Bin
- Find Same Item
- Find Unit of Measure Match
On the second line, select the following options:
- Find Fixed Bin
- Find Same Item
On the third line, select the following options:
- Find Fixed Bin
- Find Empty Bin
On the fourth line, select the following options:
- Find Floating Bin
- Find Same Item
On the fifth line, select the following options:
- Find Floating Bin
- Find Empty Bin
On the sixth line, select the Find Floating Bin option.
Close the Put-away template page.
Select the Search for page icon in the upper-right corner of the page, enter locations, and then select the related link.
Open the location card for warehouse NORTH.
Expand the Bin Policies FastTab.
In the Put-away Template Code field, select DEFAULT.
Close the location card.
