Exercise - Create a location for the south warehouse
This exercise uses the CRONUS sample company from the US version of Business Central. You might need to adjust the steps if you use the sample company from your country or region.
Scenario
Your company is expanding its business and has recently opened a new warehouse in Houston. You have been asked to set up the warehouse in Business Central. The location will have dedicated warehouse workers. Because the warehouse isn't large, you decide to configure inventory put-aways and inventory picks and to make bins mandatory.
Use the following information to set up the location:
Code - SOUTH
Address - 2135 Gazin St, Houston, TX 77020
After you have created the location, you will configure the inventory posting setup. Similar to other locations, RESALE items in the SOUTH location need to be posted to G/L account 10700.
Tasks
Set up the warehouse in Business Central and configure inventory posting setup.
Steps
Select the Search for Page icon in the upper-right corner of the page, enter locations, and then select the related link.
Select New.
In the Code field, enter SOUTH.
In the Name field, enter SOUTH Warehouse.
Expand the Address & Contact FastTab.
In the Address field, enter 2135 Gazin St.
In the ZIP Code field, enter 77020.
In the City field, enter Houston.
In the State field, enter TX.
In the Country/Region Code field, select US.
Expand the Warehouse FastTab.
Select the Bin Mandatory field.
Select the Require Put-away field.
Select the Require Pick field.
Close the location card.
Select the Search for Page icon in the upper-right corner of the page, enter inventory posting setup, and then select the related link.
Create a new line.
In the Location Code field, select SOUTH.
In the Invt. Posting Group Code field, select RESALE.
In the Inventory Account field, select 10700.
Close the Inventory Posting Setup page.
