Set up price lists

Completed

Price lists in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Operations are collections of rates that display the cost, sales, and bill prices. The context of each price list is Sales or Cost, and it's determined by whether it displays cost rates or sales and bill rates.

The Context, Time Unit, and Price List Entity extensions are specific to Project Operations and are applied to price lists from Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales:

  • Context - This field is supported for Cost and Sales values; Purchase isn't supported. To create a cost price list, set the context to Cost. This list provides the price for the cost type on estimate and actual records. For a sales price list, set the context to Sales. This list provides the price for estimated and actual records of unbilled and billed sales types.

  • Time Unit - The default unit of time that's associated with prices in the price list is specified in the related Role Price table.

  • Price List Entity - This field, which has been created by Project Operations, is used to differentiate price lists that are exclusive of a quote or contract from those that are standard and globally applicable.

The following fields are on the General tab of a price list and are unique to Project Operations or have significant changes in behavior from price lists in Sales:

  • Name - This field identifies the price list and is on the General tab and Quick Create forms. All list pages and dropdown options show this value in the price list.

  • Start Date - This field shows the start date of the period in which a price list is effective, and it's on the General tab and Quick Create forms. By using the End Date field and this field, you can determine which price list is applicable for an estimate or actual line.

  • End Date - This field shows the end date of the period in which a price list is effective, and it's on the General tab and Quick Create forms. By using the Start Date field and this field, you can determine which price list is applicable for an estimate or actual line.
