Use Transaction Category as a pricing dimension

Before completing the steps in this unit, you should already have a new pricing dimension solution for your organization. If you haven't already done so, follow the steps in Create custom fields and entities as pricing dimensions.

Add the Transaction Category field to forms and views

To make the Transaction Category field in the pricing dimension solution visible, you also need to add the field to all forms and views as an entity.

The table in Use a bookable resource as a pricing dimension lists all out-of-the-box forms and views fo each entity. You also need to add the new field to any other forms or views in your customized entities.

Set up the Transaction Category field as a pricing dimension

To set up the Transaction Category field as a pricing dimension, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Project Operations. In the left navigation pane, at the bottom, select the Projects dropdown menu and then select Settings.

  2. When you're on the Settings page, select Parameters on the left navigation pane, and then select the organizational unit that you want to view.

  3. On the Organizational Unit page, expand the Related dropdown menu and then select Project Parameters.

  4. Select the Parameter object.

  5. On the Amount Based Pricing Dimensions tab, make sure that the grid shows the records in the Pricing Dimensions entity.

  6. Add Transaction Category to the list of pricing dimensions.

  7. Set the Applicable to Cost and Applicable to Sales fields to Yes.

  8. In the dimension Type field, select Amount-based.

  9. Choose the priority for the Transaction Category (0 or 1) as it relates to cost and sales.
