Exercise - Create zones and bins for the NORTH warehouse

Warehouse Management exercises use a sandbox demo company that you need to set up to complete these exercises. Scenario

Now that the NORTH warehouse has been created, it's your task to create the following zones and bins.

  • Zone: RECEIVE

    • Bin Type: RECEIVE
    • Ranking: 100
    • Bins: NR001 and NR002
  • Zone: SHIP

    • Bin Type: SHIP
    • Ranking: 500
    • Bins: NS001 and NS002
  • Zone: PICK

    • Bin Type: PUTPICK
    • Ranking: 200
    • Bins: N-01-0001 and N-01-0002

Before you can create the zones and bins, you must first create the following six bin types:

  • Adjust
  • Put away
  • Putpick
  • Receive
  • Ship
  • Pick

Finally, after creating the zones and bins, you will configure the receipt and shipment bin on the location card for the NORTH warehouse.

  • Receipt bin: NR001

  • Shipment bin: NS001

Tasks

  1. Create the six bin types.

  2. Create the zones and bins as described in the scenario.

  3. Assign the receiving and shipping bin on the location card for the NORTH warehouse.

Steps

  1. Create the six bin types.

    1. Select the Search for page icon in the upper-right corner of the page, enter bin types, and then select the related link.

    2. On the first line, in the Code field, enter ADJUST.

    3. In the Description field, enter Adjustment.

    4. Leave all options cleared.

    5. On the second line, in the Code field, enter PUT AWAY.

    6. In the Description field, enter Put away.

    7. Select the Put Away option.

    8. On the third line, in the Code field, enter PUTPICK.

    9. In the Description field, enter Put away and pick.

    10. Select the Put Away and Pick options.

    11. On the fourth line, in the Code field, enter RECEIVE.

    12. In the Description field, enter Receive.

    13. Select the Receive option.

    14. On the fifth line, in the Code field, enter SHIP.

    15. In the Description field, enter Ship.

    16. Select the Ship option.

    17. On the sixth line, in the Code field, enter PICK.

    18. In the Description field, enter Pick.

    19. Select the Pick option.

    20. Close the Bin Types page.

  2. Create the zones and bins as described in the scenario.

    1. Select the Search for page icon in the upper-right corner of the page, enter locations, and then select the related link.

    2. Select the NORTH location and then select Navigate > Location > Zones.

    3. On the first line, in the Code field, enter RECEIVE.

    4. In the Description field, enter Receiving zone.

    5. In the Bin Type Code field, select RECEIVE.

    6. In the Zone Ranking field, enter 100.

    7. On the second line, in the Code field, enter SHIP.

    8. In the Description field, enter Shipping zone.

    9. In the Bin Type Code field, select SHIP.

    10. In the Zone Ranking field, enter 500.

    11. On the third line, in the Code field, enter PICK.

    12. In the Description field, enter Picking zone.

    13. In the Bin Type Code field, select PUTPICK.

    14. In the Zone Ranking field, enter 200.

    15. Select the RECEIVE zone and then select Navigate > Zone > Bins.

    16. In the Code field, enter NR001 and then enter NR002 for the second line.

    17. Close the Bins page.

    18. Select the SHIP zone and then select Navigate > Zone > Bins.

    19. In the Code field, enter NS001 and then enter NS002 for the second line.

    20. Close the Bins page.

    21. Select the PICK zone and then select Navigate > Zone > Bins.

    22. In the Code field, enter N-01-0001 and then enter N-01-0002 for the second line.

    23. Close the Bins page and the Zones page.

  3. Assign the receipt and shipment bin on the location card for the NORTH warehouse.

    1. On the location card for the NORTH warehouse, expand the Bins FastTab.

    2. In the Receipt Bin Code field, enter NR001.

    3. In the Shipment Bin Code field, enter NS001.
