Condition assessments and Condition assessment templates

Completed

A condition assessment is a form of preventive maintenance. It involves inspecting assets at regular intervals to measure and monitor their current condition and remaining lifespan. After completing a condition assessment, you can analyze the data and compare the information to other machinery in the factory.

Example: You perform an assessment to measure the vibrations on your machinery. After you have completed the assessment, you enter the vibration measurements from the different assets in Asset Management. From there, you can run an inquiry to view and compare the vibration measurements.

Because condition assessments are performed on a regular basis, it is important that you create a condition assessment template to track and maintain consistent standards on the gathered data. We recommend using the following sequence:

  1. Create the required condition assessment templates.
  2. Associate the templates with asset types on the Asset types form.
  3. Create condition assessment registrations on an asset on the Asset form.

Create a condition assessment template

To create a Condition assessment template, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Asset Management > Setup > Asset types > Condition assessment templates.

  2. Select New to create a new template.

  3. Enter an ID or name in the Template field, for example, Vibration.

  4. Enter the template name in the Name field, for example, Vibration measurements.

  5. On the Condition assessment lines FastTab, add as many lines as needed to perform the condition assessment, including the appropriate data type and measurement unit.

    • Select the Add button.
    • In the first line, enter the Name of the condition assessment.
    • Enter the Description of the condition assessment.
    • Select the Data type from the drop-down menu of the condition assessment:
      • Decimal – A number with digits with the power of 2
      • Integer – A whole number with no decimal places
      • String – Manually typed text
      • Date – Date and time format
      • No/Yes A No/Yes data type
    • Select the Unit from the drop-down menu of the condition assessment.
    • Repeat steps in step 5 until all lines are complete.
  6. On the Asset types FastTab, add the asset types that should be included on the condition assessment template.
