Create asset manufacturers and models

To track your assets, obtain spare parts for those assets, and establish warranties, it is important to know the make and model of a particular asset. This topic shows you how to set up asset manufacturers and models that can be related to an asset.

To set up product-model relations, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Asset Management > Setup > Assets > Manufacturers and models.
  2. Select New.
  3. In the Manufacturer field, enter the name of the asset manufacturer, such as Contoso.
  4. In the Description field, enter a description of the manufacturer’s product, such as Conveyor Belts. On the Details FastTab, the Models and Assets fields automatically populate when this process is completed in the Models FastTab.
  5. On the Models FastTab, select Add to create an asset model that is related to the asset manufacturer.
  6. In the Model field, enter the model name or ID, such as B01-447789.
  7. In the Description field, enter a description of the model, such as Conveyor Belt – 2 foot.
  8. In the Asset type drop-down menu, select the asset type that the manufacturer model should be related to. The Assets field is auto populated and displays the number of items by using the manufacturer model.
