Remote learning

Completed

It's crucial that everyone understands remote learning isn't meant to be your traditional online learning experience. Similar to face-to-face learning, online learning courses are built over many months - or years - and incorporate a various learning strategies and tools. Hopefully you'll have months to prepare for the transition to remote learning. Even if you don't, it's unrealistic to expect educators to transform their entire face-to-face course to an online environment in a short time period. Educators won't have the time nor the resources to build comprehensive online lessons on every core concept in their course. Additionally, many students won't have the technology expected of a student who enrolls in an online course. Remote learning is a strategic, measured approach to ensure students' needs are met as best as possible when a school closure is necessary. You and your colleagues can determine the goals you feel are most necessary for your remote learning environment. We suggest the following goals for remote learning:

  • Continue learning
  • Keep the school community connected
  • Streamline the process

To help guide your planning and preparation for remote learning, we've created an Action Plan template to guide your work. As you progress through the three modules on remote learning, you can complete the template and document your planning throughout the modules. By the end, you'll be ready to implement your plan and connect with your students through remote learning.
