Exercise - Sync Shopify orders

In this exercise, you'll sync Shopify orders with Business Central.

Scenario

Now that items, inventory, and customers are synced between Business Central and Shopify, you're ready to start testing the Shopify order sync.

You want to test the following cases:

  • Sync an unfulfilled order from an existing customer.

  • Sync a fulfilled order from an existing customer.

The first step is creating the orders in Shopify.

Order 1 - Sync an unfulfilled order from an existing customer.

  • Customer - Any existing demo customer

  • Products:

    • AMSTERDAM Lamp - 12 units

    • PARIS Guest Chair, black - 4 units

Order 2 - Sync a fulfilled order from an existing customer.

  • Customer - Any existing demo customer

  • Products:

    • ATHENS Desk - 2 units

    • ROME Guest Chair, green - 2 units

To be able to finish the Shopify order, you'll need to select a payment status. Set these test orders to Payment due later and Due on receipt.

After manually creating the orders in Shopify, you'll run the order sync in Business Central and then check the result.

Tasks

You'll complete the following tasks in this exercise:

  1. Create the two orders in Shopify.

  2. Run the order sync in Business Central.

Steps

Create the two orders in Shopify.

  1. In your Shopify online store, select Orders.

  2. Select Create order.

  3. Select the Customer field and then select any existing customer.

  4. Select the check mark field of the AMSTERDAM Lamp item.

  5. Select the check mark field of the PARIS Guest Chair, black item.

  6. In the Quantity field, enter 12 for the AMSTERDAM Lamp and enter 4 for the PARIS Guest Chair.

  7. Scroll down and select Payment due later.

  8. Select Create Order > Create Order.

  9. Select Orders from the navigation menu on the left.

  10. Select Create order.

  11. Select the Customer field and then select any existing customer.

  12. Select the check mark field of the AMSTERDAM Lamp item.

  13. Select the check mark field of the PARIS Guest Chair, black item.

  14. In the Quantity field, enter 12 for the AMSTERDAM Lamp and enter 4 for the PARIS Guest Chair.

  15. Scroll down and select Payment due later.

  16. Select Create Order > Create Order.

  17. In the section where the items are listed, select Fulfill items > Fulfill items.

Run the order sync in Business Central.

  1. In Business Central, select the Search for Page icon in the upper-right corner of the page, enter shopify shops, and then select the related link.

  2. Select Synchronization > Sync Orders.

  3. Select OK.

  4. After a few seconds, select Related > Orders to check if the orders have been created.
