Cloud management issues
We use cloud computing services and cloud storage services for many of day-to-day tasks and the number of those tasks is growing. It's imperative to note that privacy and security are major concerns that must be addressed when using the cloud.
It's essential to be alert to ensure security of the environment. A user must be aware of the model used by the company offering the service. Some models differ from provider to provider and therefore the security aspect should be examined from a human as well as technological standpoint.
There could be various issues regarding privacy and security of cloud storage such as:
- Data breaches
- Network security
- Data access
- System vulnerabilities
- Account hijacking
- Malicious insiders
- Permanent data loss
- Compromised credentials and broken authentication
- Hacked interfaces and APIs
The first layer of security is provided by the cloud service provider and the second layer of security by the user. The challenge for the user is to know the security of each cloud service provider in order to properly secure data across all the clouds they use.
