Exercise - Defining goal metrics

Before you begin, to achieve the maximum effect of this lab and the other labs included within this learning path, it's recommended that you have some sample data to work with. If the instance that you're working with doesn't have any sample data, you can use the following steps to add the stock sample data to your system.

  1. In a new browser window, open the Power Platform Admin center.

  2. Using the navigation on the left, select the environment that you want to install the sample data to.

  3. On the Command Bar at the top, select the Settings button.

  4. Locate and expand the Data management heading.

  5. Select Sample Data.

  6. If the sample data isn't installed, select the Install Sample Data button. (Note it might take a few minutes for the data to appear, but you can continue to use your application while it installs.)

  7. Select the Close button.

Scenario

As the sales manager, you need to establish goals for your sales team. This quarter, you're establishing new goals for the total value of invoices paid for each salesperson to have your sales team members ensure that their customers are paying their bills. To accomplish this, you'll first need to create a new goal metric for paid invoices.

Detailed steps

Create a goal metric for the total number of paid invoices.

  1. Use the navigation bar to open Sales Hub from the Dynamics 365 drop-down menu.

  2. In the SiteMap, select the ellipsis (...), select App Settings.

  3. Under Goal Management, select Goal Metrics.

  4. On the command bar, select the New button to open the Goal Metric form.

  5. In Step 1: Define the Metric section, complete the following:

    • Name - Invoiced Revenue

    • Metric Type - Amount

    • Amount Data Type - Money

  6. Select the Save button to save the goal metric and leave it open.

  7. Select the Rollup Fields tab.

  8. Select the Add New Rollup Field button.

  9. Complete the new rollup column as follows:

    • In the Step 1 section:

      • Set the Rollup Column drop-down list to Actual (Money).
    • In the Step 2 section:

      • Set the Source Record Type drop-down list to Invoice.

      • Set the Source Column drop-down list to Total Amount.

      • Set the Source Record Type State drop-down list to Paid.

      • Leave the Source Record Type Status column blank.

    • In the Step 3 section:

    • Set the Record Type drop-down list to Invoice.

    • Set the Date Column drop-down list to Modified On.

  10. On the command bar, select Save and Close to close the Rollup column.

  11. In the Goal Metric form, select Save and Close to close the form.
