Master planning with demand forecasts

Completed

If you create a master plan that uses the Planning Optimization functionality, you can use a Demand forecast to plan for the expected demand.

To learn more about using Demand forecasting, see Demand forecasting overview.

Planners can predict demand from order history by using input from multiple demand forecasting models and submodels. Planners can also forecast lines for a specific product on the Released products page.

When you create a forecast associated with a Master plan, you can create submodels to the forecast. There's no limit to the number of submodels that you can add to a forecast. However, if you use a submodel in a forecast, it can't be added as a submodel in another forecast.

Users can also incorporate demand from sales quotations to provide more accurate forecasting. For each master plan, you can configure the sales quotation confidence level required for a sales quotation to be factored into the demand.

For example, if forecast A uses forecasts B and C as submodels, forecast D can't use forecasts B and C as a submodel.

To create a forecast submodel, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Master planning > Setup > Demand forecasting > Forecast models.
  2. Select a forecast.
  3. In the Submodel FastTab, select Add.
  4. Select a forecast as a submodel, as shown in the following screenshot.
