Kendall works as an emergency room physician for a large hospital. Kendall needs to constantly learn medical concepts and processes to stay current with the medical field. The hospital has site licenses with multiple leading content providers, such as Coursera and edX. These content providers have been added to the hospital’s Viva Learning. Kendall search for the latest published learning content cross platforms and takes these courses within Viva Learning to keep all the learning at one place.

Professional skill development

Maria is a data analyst working at a large supply chain company. Maria’s current career goal is to become a team lead. To achieve this goal, Maria decides she needs to polish her public speaking skills. Maria browses public speaking courses in Viva Learning and finds a LinkedIn Learning course interesting. Maria reads the course descriptions and decides that she'll spend one hour each week learning the course. Maria bookmarks the course and adds it to her calendar to set aside one hour a week to focus on this course.

Team learning

Lydia is a web app developer and is tasked to work with several colleagues across the organization. The project requires a new tool that none of Lydia’s colleagues knows how to use. Lydia does some research in Viva Learning and finds a few good learning resources. They share these learning contents by adding a learning tab to the project’s Teams Channel. Lydia and other project members can take the learning content through the Teams Channel, share with each other their progress, and ask questions.

Employee onboarding and skilling

Penny manages a team of 10 and the team keeps growing. For each new team member, Penny needs to help them quickly learn the organization’s culture, regulations, and guidelines. Penny uses Viva Learning to recommend onboarding content to new team members. Penny also recommends learning content based on each team member’s career development needs. Team members can update their progress on the recommended learning for Penny's awareness, and Penny can remind them if they haven't started taking them.

Contoso University has over 10,000 employees. Each year, all full-time employees must complete a series compliance training by the regulations of the state and federal government. Contoso university uses Viva Learning to surfaced assigned compliance training from its learning management system to each employee and to remind their completion status.
