Lamna Healthcare is a large organization with multiple departments across multiple locations. Therefore, the leadership wants to ensure that organizational goals are communicated properly and that each team is aware of its own team’s goals and progress and other team’s goals and progress.

Leadership at Lamna Healthcare wants to achieve the following goals:

  • Create clear and transparent goals
  • Align everyone to the organization's wider goals
  • Connect employee's daily work to the organization's goals

You will now learn how Lamna can use Viva Goals and the rest of the Viva suite to help support these mission statements.

Set up Viva Goals

First, the Office of Information Technology works with the leadership and main business process owners to plan the structure of the organization(s), teams and individuals. Next, the Office of Information Technology works with the organization administrators and owners to set up Viva Goals by:

Once set up, Viva Goals and the rest of the Viva suite will empower Lamna through the following features:

Feature Description
Focus OKRs are only between three to five goals per quarter. The limited number of OKRs enables Lamna to focus on work that is meaningful and cut down on extraneous work that isn't needed.
Alignment The chosen OKRs ensure that everyone from the top leadership to the lowest level is in alignment and working in the right direction. Lamna uses Viva Connections and Viva Engage to communicate OKRs directly to staff and get feedback from people across the organization.
Tracking and Transparency People across the organization can track the progress status of OKRs at all levels. The tracking feature supports accountability and enables the timely identification of issues. Leadership uses Viva Engage and Viva Connections to directly communicate the progress of OKRs with all Lamna employees in public virtual events or communities.
Stretch Managers are able to foster a growth mindset in their teams. They can work with their team members and encourage them to stretch their individual goals to achieve their fullest potential. Lamna uses Viva Connections and Viva Engage to share inspiring stories and provide guidance.

Lamna aligns people’s work to the organization’s goals with Viva Goals

Let’s see how the IT team at Lamna uses Viva Goals to create a team objective and align all its team members to this goal.

First, the team manager creates the team goal of providing better IT support for Lamna internal business.

Next, the manager works with the team to identify team level key results, such as:

  • To redevelop the online appointment app, so that the general required form filling time is reduced to less than one minute
  • To reduce ticket response timeframe from within three business days to within two business days
  • To increase traffic to the FAQ page of the Office of Information Technology SharePoint site by 20%

The manager also works with each team member to identify individual-level key results for the team’s goal. To equip the team members with the knowledge and skills required to achieve their goals, the manager uses Viva Learning to recommend learning materials. The team also uses Viva Engage to create communities to discuss new frameworks and programming languages and share ideas. These communities will be open to all employees across Lamna Healthcare. Other staff members will contribute and explore the new technology, potentially providing ideas that could improve the development of the final app.

While on the way to achieving the team’s goals, the IT team manager uses Viva Insights to support the team's wellbeing and productivity. Managers can use the Teamwork habits tab to ensure team members aren't overworked or at risk of burnout. The manager also encourages team members to use their Personal insights and recommendations in the Viva Insights app in Teams and on the web.
