Exercise - Create a product attribute and assign it to the product hierarchy

You will create a new attribute and attach it to a product hierarchy so that it is available for all products in that hierarchy.

Create a new attribute for the Lining type for all coats and jackets for an organization. The default value for all products in the Coats & Jackets lining type will be Cloth, except for item 81109, which has a Silk attribute that you must override.

  1. In the company USRT, go to Product information management > Setup > Categories and attributes > Attribute types.
  2. Select New.
  3. In the Attribute type name field, enter Material.
  4. Select Text in the Type field.
  5. Set the Fixed list field to Yes.
  6. In the Values section, select Add.
  7. Change the Value field to Cloth.
  8. In the Values section, select Add.
  9. Change the Value field to Silk.
  10. Go to Product information management > Setup > Categories and attributes > Attributes.
  11. Select New.
  12. In the Name field, enter Lining type.
  13. In the Attribute type field, select Material.
  14. Go to Product information management > Setup > Categories and attributes > Attribute groups.
  15. In the list, select Coats & Jackets.
  16. In the Attributes section, select Add.
  17. In the Available grid, select Lining type.
  18. Select the right arrow.
  19. Select OK.
  20. Go to Retail and Commerce > Products and categories > Commerce product hierarchy.
  21. In the hierarchy, go to ALL > Fashion > Menswear > Coats & Jackets.
  22. Scroll down to the Product attribute groups section.
  23. Select Add.
  24. In the Available grid, select Coats & Jackets.
  25. Select the right arrow.
  26. Select OK.
  27. Go to Retail and Commerce > Products and categories > Released products by category.
  28. Go to item 81109.
  29. In the Product tab of the Action Pane, in the Setup group, select Product attributes.
  30. In the list, select Lining type.
  31. Change the value to Silk.
