Microsoft Build in-person attendees are eligible to take one Microsoft and/or one GitHub certification exam free of charge onsite during this year's Microsoft Build. Registration is required. Microsoft Certification
Steps to register
Begin with the credentials overview or browse all certifications page to find the exam you'd like to take, then click on the certification name.
- On the certification detail page, scroll to “Schedule exam” and click on the exam provider button.
- Complete the profile section or create one if you haven't already.
- Proceed through the registration process.
- When prompted on the Select Exam Options page, select “In person at a test center”.
- Select your preferred language.
- Review the required information and agree to the Microsoft policies.
- Search for "Seattle, WA 98101" and select "Microsoft Build Test Center" under the Find a Test Center selection.
- Continue through the registration steps.
- Your 100% discount will automatically apply at checkout.

- You must be registered to attend Microsoft Build in person.
- You can only claim one offer per person.
- Prior to redeeming your 100% Microsoft Certification exam discount, government employees must check with their employers to ensure their participation is permitted, and in accordance with, applicable policies and laws.
- This exam discount may be redeemed to take one (1) Microsoft Certification exam, delivered onsite at Microsoft Build.
- This exam offer is redeemable for select Microsoft exams only. Those include any exam with a prefix of AI, AZ, DA, DP, MB, MD, MS, PL, or SC.
- There are no prerequisites to taking an exam. However, to achieve the Microsoft Certification, you must first achieve the prerequisites, if applicable. Information can be found on the individual certification details page.
- This exam offer redemption window starts May 19, 2025 and expires on May 22, 2025.
- This exam offer expiration date can't be extended under any circumstances.
- This exam offer may only be redeemed once.
- This exam offer may not be redeemed or exchanged for cash, credit, or refund.
- This exam offer is nontransferable and is void if you alter, revise, or transfer it in any way.
- Void in Belarus, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria, Region of Crimea, and where prohibited.

GitHub Certification
GitHub Certification exams will be available onsite at Microsoft Build and are first-come, first-served. Availability is limited and based on the event schedule:
- Dates: Monday, May 19 - Thursday, May 22, 2025
- Location: The Arch at 800 Pike, Level 3, outside Room Tahoma 5
- Check-In: Arrive 15-30 minutes early
- Bring a government-issued photo ID for check-in
- You'll take your exam on a Microsoft-provided device

Steps to register
Step 1: Request your pre-registration code
Email gh-certification@github.com with your preferred testing date and start time. You will receive a pre-registration code to schedule your exam.
Step 2: Create a GitHub account
You must register using a personal GitHub account (Enterprise Managed User accounts are not supported). Skip this step if you already have a personal GitHub account.
To create a GitHub account:
- Visit https://github.com
- Click Sign In, then Create an account
- Enter your email, password, and username
- Follow prompts to verify your email and secure your account
Step 3: Register for the Exam
- Visit https://examregistration.github.com
- Select your exam (Note: For a limited time, the GitHub Foundations exam is non-proctored and will not be available for onsite testing at Microsoft Build. However, in-person attendees can receive a free voucher to take this exam by visiting the certification testing area.)
- Click Take Exam
- Complete the registration form and click Schedule Exam
- This sends your eligibility to our testing partner, PSI
Step 4: Book via PSI
- You will be redirected to PSI's testing site
- Apply your pre-registration code in the Testing Event Invitation code box
- Select your exam and language
- Confirm device requirements (Microsoft-provided devices are used onsite)
- Confirm your personal information
- Skip ID capture - ID will be checked onsite
- Agree to PSI's Terms of Use and Privacy Policy
- A voucher will be applied automatically at checkout
- Complete your registration
- You will receive a booking confirmation email from PSI
