Get a PIX representation of a state object description used to produce this object.
Syntax
HRESULT GetDesc(
UINT32 index,
const PIX_STATE_OBJECT_DESC ** stateObjectDesc);
Parameters
index [in]
The zero-based description index in the range [0, GetDescCount()).
stateObjectDesc [out]
Pointer to the requested state object description.
Returns
S_OK on success or E_INVALIDARG if index is outside the valid range.
Remarks
Warning
This is a PIX API representation, not a D3D12-compatible description. Do not pass it directly to D3D12 or D3DX12 helpers that expect D3D interface pointers. First replace each PIX-specific payload with its D3D12 equivalent and supply D3D12 objects created for the target device.
For D3D12_STATE_SUBOBJECT_TYPE_GLOBAL_ROOT_SIGNATURE and D3D12_STATE_SUBOBJECT_TYPE_LOCAL_ROOT_SIGNATURE, pDesc points to PIX_STATE_OBJECT_ROOT_SIGNATURE_DESC. For D3D12_STATE_SUBOBJECT_TYPE_EXISTING_COLLECTION, pDesc points to PIX_STATE_OBJECT_EXISTING_COLLECTION_DESC. All other returned subobjects use their D3D12 representations. If PIX does not support exposing a captured subobject type, that subobject remains in its original position with pDesc set to nullptr. References between subobjects are valid. The returned description and all referenced data remain valid for the lifetime of this interface. PIX interface pointers contained in the subobject descs remain valid while this interface is alive. No reference is transferred to the caller. Call AddRef before releasing this interface if a referenced object must remain valid afterward.
