I am waiting for this missing feature - our small business can't move to the latest Outlook only for this reason!

New Outlook is missing many features, but we especially need this one. We use a shard email for admin purposes and need to be able to make notes to keep everyone updated.

If we are not going to have this feature in the new Outlook then our organization will not be moving to the new Outlook. Microsoft needs to get this fixed ASAP!!!!

This is why I still use outlook....and is a very helpful feature.....i use it to edit sublect line to add important message information and at times add comments to message body

Today (4th July 2024) the option is still NOT available !!!
(neither in Outlook nor new Outlook).
->When is it going to be implemented.
P.S. sorry but it's a "no go"/"calamity" that ms removes existing features !!!

I found a workaround that works well here

->creating the following macro:

Sub OpenForEditing()

ActiveExplorer.Selection(1).Display

ActiveInspector.CommandBars.ExecuteMso "EditMessage"

End Sub

Hi @Liam Briars ,

Do you mean the Edit Message option on the ribbon?

According to my research and test, currently there is no option to edit message in new outlook. The new Outlook is not yet complete, and some options may not be available or work as expected.

As a workaround, you can switch back to the classic Outlook by clicking the toggle button in the top right corner of the window.
Many features of our current products are designed and upgraded based on customers’ feedback. With requirements like this increase, the problem may well be released in the future, and you can make a suggestion via this link

Many thanks for your response. Yes that is the feature I require and have already reverted back. Do you know if this feature will be added back in for the full release as I think there is also some other features missing and looks a lot more cut down this version.

The ability to edit messages is useful - as an example I use it to drag a bank future payment confirmation PDF onto an email from my accountants so that I can see when it is scheduled to be paid along with the details of the payment.

I'm on a Mac. I don't have a classic ribbon in the new Outlook. What I need is a menu option and key command for the feature.

Why is Microsoft releasing an incomplete product (Outlook) to the public? The new MS Outlook should have the same features as previous Outlook releases before it is made generally available..

More than a year later and still no edit button?

Why? What is so difficult about that?

I really want to go forward and use the New Outlook, but not without an edit-button.

This feature is critical. A workaround isn’t helpful at all. Still waiting more than a year later. The upgrade is a downgrade. But we’re forced into the trade off.

This feature is a real asset to power users with shared accounts. It’s one of the things that sets Microsoft apart from other email options.
