How to rid myself of the scourge of OneDrive

Question

I HATE OneDrive!!! I don't need it, and I don't want it on my PC, but I can't seem to rid myself of this nightmare. First, I unlinked my computer. That didn't do it. Next, I deleted my account. That didn't do it either. Finally, I uninstalled the program and restarted my computer believing that had to be the end of it. Oh, how naive I was. I tried to make shortcuts on my desktop to My Documents, My Pictures, etc. That seemed to trigger the creation of the folder: This PC > Windows(C:) > Users > MyName > One Drive When I deleted this folder, I also deleted my shortcuts.

Also, now when I click on the This PC icon on my desktop, I receive an error saying C:\Users\MyName\OneDrive\Desktop is unavailable. I just want all my icons, folders, files, and shortcuts to be local to my PC. Is that too much to ask? Can someone please rescue me from this OneDrive hell?

Hi,

OneDrive is built-in app from Windows 10, after uninstalling OneDrive you should try to restore the default location for the folders.

For example go to File Explorer- right click the Desktop folder- select Properties- Location Tab- click the Restore Default option:

First step is to follow along here to Unlink OneDrive

1. Open OneDrive settings (select the OneDrive cloud icon in your notification area, and then select the OneDrive Help and Settings icon then Settings.)
2. Go to the Account tab.
3. Select Unlink this PC.

then the next step is to Uninstall OneDrive

1. Select the Start button, type Programs in the search box, and then select Add or remove programs in the list of results.
2. Under Apps & features, find and select Microsoft OneDrive, and then select Uninstall. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

then you could reboot it.
