Short text

  • Eligible for the Workplace Discount Program with [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]
  • Corporate email linked to the wrong Microsoft account.
  • Please verify, remove the incorrect association, and link it to**[Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]**

Long text with explanations ;

I am experiencing an issue with the Microsoft Workplace Discount Program (formerly Home Use Program), and I believe it is caused by an incorrect association between my corporate email address and the wrong personal Microsoft account.

My situation

  • I am an employee of [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed] .
  • My corporate email address is eligible for the Workplace Discount Program.
  • My personal Microsoft account is:

[Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]

When I try to enroll using my personal Microsoft account, I receive the following message:

“You are already enrolled in the program with a different Microsoft account.”

What I discovered

After investigating, I found that another Microsoft account:

[Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]

(which belongs to my brother-in-law and is NOT employed by [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed] )

  • receives the same Workplace Discount Program emails,
  • and can access the Microsoft Workplace Discount Store with the 30% discounted prices.

This strongly suggests that my corporate email address has been incorrectly associated with his Microsoft account instead of mine.

What has already been verified

  • My employer ([Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed] ) confirmed that my corporate email is eligible.
  • [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed] IT confirmed they cannot manage or modify Workplace Discount Program personal account associations.
  • Microsoft support referred me back to my employer.
  • I am now caught between Microsoft and my employer because neither side can modify this association.

What I am requesting

I am NOT asking to transfer a subscription or merge Microsoft accounts.

I am requesting that Microsoft verify the current Workplace Discount Program association for my corporate email address and, if necessary:

  1. Identify which Microsoft personal account is currently associated with my corporate email.
  2. Remove the incorrect association.
  3. Associate my corporate email with my correct Microsoft account:

[Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]

If this request requires another Microsoft team, please escalate it to the team responsible for the Workplace Discount Program backend or the Microsoft Store Accounts & Billing team.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Best regards,

Dear @Alexandre Lepart,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Please understand that our forum is a public platform, and I will modify your question to cover your personal information in the description. Please notice to hide these personal or organization information next time you post error or some information to protect personal data.

Based on your description, your corporate email appears to be linked to a different Microsoft account in the Workplace Discount Program rather than your own account.

Since your employer only verifies eligibility and does not manage WDP account associations, they cannot remove or modify this link. I recommend contacting Microsoft Store or Accounts & Billing Support and requesting that they investigate the existing Workplace Discount Program association for your corporate email. If an incorrect association is found, the support team may be able to remove it and allow you to enroll using the correct Microsoft account.

If possible, provide the support team with:

  • Your eligible corporate email address.
  • The Microsoft account you want to use with WDP.
  • A description of the error message and the incorrect account association.

This type of issue generally requires backend review by the team responsible for Workplace Discount Program account associations and cannot be resolved through self-service options.

I hope information above can help you resolve the issue. Please understand that as forum moderator, my primary goal is to provide helpful guidance and support through general troubleshooting steps. While I don’t have access to internal systems or test devices required to resolve backend issues, I truly appreciate your understanding of these limitations. I genuinely hope the information I share helps guide you in the right direction, and I'm always here to assist as much as I can within my scope.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out.

    Thank you for your clarification.

Your explanation confirms an important point:

    • My employer can only verify eligibility.
    • The Workplace Discount Program account association is managed by Microsoft.
    • If an incorrect association exists, Microsoft Store / Accounts & Billing Support can investigate it and may be able to remove it after a backend review.

This is exactly the information I was looking for.

I will contact Microsoft Store / Accounts & Billing Support again and ask them to escalate my case to the team responsible for the Workplace Discount Program backend, referring to your recommendation.

Thank you for confirming the correct resolution path.

    Best regards,
